788 - Le miracle de la Beauté

La beauté me désarme, me subjugue, m'électrise.

Esthète avant tout, je fléchis d'extase devant la "lumière qui engendre la lumière", ce que nous appelons la Beauté.

Ce qui dépasse mon front est radieux, ce qui touche le ciel est rayonnant, ce qui met le feu à mon âme est éblouissant. La Beauté est bonne, juste, pure. La Beauté est bleue, blanche, translucide.

Invisible.

Le firmament, un visage, une mare : le Beau fait pleurer l'Homme.

Toutes les femmes ne sont pas belles. Les nuits étoilées n'inspirent pas une flamme invariable. On voit aussi ce qui est laid dans la terre.

Mais dès qu'une femme est belle parmi les laiderons, qu'un astre chante dans le grand silence sidéral, que le clabaudage du crapaud fait l'herbe mystérieuse, l'esthète s'illumine et trouve la Création admirable : aussi bien le vermisseau dévorant la charogne que le marbre hellène, la cendre dans l'âtre du pauvre que l'artifice dans le palais du prince, l'être minuscule qui d'une particule d'eau fait son univers que la galaxie aux bras incommensurables.

Une seule étincelle de beauté suffit à tout enflammer dans le regard de l'esthète qui percevra le reste monde d'une nouvelle façon. Dès que brille le moindre grain de sable dans le regard de celui qui s'émerveille, dès que l'observateur éveillé voit des diamants dans une pincée de simple poussière, dès que l'être sensible perçoit l'essentiel, qu'il capte non avec l'oeil mais avec l'esprit cette "vibration supérieure" qui donne à la matière son relief, sa hauteur, son éclat, alors pour lui l'Univers entier prend le même aspect : il n'est plus qu'un réservoir de Beauté.

La Beauté est une voie vers l'infini, une vérité universelle, une preuve d'immortalité de tout ce qui vit car ce qui est beau procède d'un principe suprême, est issu d'une inextinguible source de lumière, et est fatalement d'inspiration divine. C'est pourquoi la Beauté est éternelle.

La Beauté, c'est un mouvement perpétuel transposé dans l'immatériel, un principe auto-créateur car, miraculeusement -à l'image du kaléidoscope aux combinaisons incalculables-, à l'infini le Beau engendre le Beau.
